Algosur
Algosur commits to industrial transformation and technological innovation to lead its sector

Algosur has set up an ambitious plan. The Seville company will extend its El Trobal (Los Palacios y Villafranca) factory for transforming tomatoes for industrial use. It will also open up the quinoa processing, calibrating and packaging plant in Los Palacios y Villafranca. Finally, it will renew the company management system thanks to the technological consultancy company and software factory Aritmos, in collaboration with Sage Spain.

Without a doubt, Algosur is immersed in a genuine transformation and growth process, in addition to making the necessary investments to carry out its strategic plan. In the tomato industrial plant alone, Algosur will invest 26 million euros. “The project will be carried out in two phases and will culminate in 2017. In addition, the tomato processing will increase to 7,000 tonnes a day” the president of the organisation, Antonio Martín Antúnez, explained.

In a parallel way, Algosur has set up its quinoa processing plant, with an investment of three million euros. A commitment to the cultivation of an Andean product, “the rice of the Incas”, in the Bajo Guadalquivir zone. This investment is the final phase of a far-reaching scientific study and R&D project to find new alternative, profitable crops for Andalusian soil. The new factory has a processing plant, six storage silos and premises in which the product will be handled. “It has avant-garde technologies; the idea is that this first year it should process between 6,000 and 7,000 tonnes of quinoa, some ten tonnes an hour” said Susana Vilariño, the person responsible for R&D in the company.

Algosur has also commissioned the renewal of the business solution that enables the company to be managed computationally. In this part, the company has opted for an integral business management system that offers a response to the more specific needs and characteristics of the most important productive areas of Algosur: the cotton section and the tomato production section.

To be able to carry out this technological project, Algosur has entrusted the design of the business solution to Aritmos, a company of reference in the introduction of ERP solutions for food and agriculture sectors. Together with Sage, Aritmos will develop the technological project using the Sage X3 platform. In addition, to guarantee the private transmission of data between the Algosur factories, the Catalan consultancy company will set up an inter-plant connection system by means of antennas and Wi-Fi.
